TeamTalk

It's been a long time since i last wrote. Though there was no shortfall of events in the past year, i simply did not have the zest to put words onto this page. Recently, i was moved to air out on a particular subject...

The reason i like to play team games is because it involves people. Sad to say, it is also the reason why is dislike playing in a team, not always but sometimes.

Most of the time, to most people, a soccer team is a team which consists of 11 people coming together to play ball. If this is the case, a team is simply just a number of individuals collectively. Any assemblage, bunch, party or cluster of people can be termed as a 'Team'....a team of monkeys, a team of clowns, a team of jokers? Finding 11 people to play soccer is easy, but to bring 11 people together to play as a team is much more demanding.

A soccer team is not merely 11 men, it is a situation whereby the whole is greater than the sum of each 11 individuals. It is where each man cooperate together and work towards the same goal. We should never undermine the capabilities of team synergy. When you've come to experience it, it really gives everyone the feeling of a 12th player on the pitch. That is when soccer is fun, enjoyable, fulfilling and shiok no matter what is the final result. It is when you can tell yourself - "Eh i feel good even though we have lost".

Team dynamics is a crucial element in building team synergy. It takes time and it involves selecting the right people to form a team. Not just in the context of soccer but it applies to any other fields. Team dynamics are unseen 'natural forces' at play. These unseen forces, if developed positively, will be imbued inside the players and kindle enthusiasm in a team. When this positive 'natural forces' is gone, all the fun, enthusiasm, happiness and motivation fades. Instead, frustration, unhappiness, dissent and negative 'natural forces' sets in...

"maybe it's time to leave and move on..."
