Wind of Change

It was the stormy winds of 1299 that blew Sumatran Malay prince Sang Nila Utama over to the isle of Temasek. Alienated, almost nonexistent and unknown-of, it was just a green islet off the southern coast of the Malay Peninsula. And as innocent as it can be, the first steps of our history begins.
Ground Zero -
We started from null. Then we had Singapura, a mere fishing village. And on came Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, modern Singapore was born. Before long, history renounces Adolf Hitler as we had World War II. Singapore, awe-stricken by the Japanese occupation, became Shōnantō. Hitler committed suicide and the Japanese surrendered. The British returned. Singapore was left in ruins after war.
Post war period saw many political strifes between the leftist and rightist, leading to the remodeling of the legislative structure, most notably the formation of the People's Action Party (PAP) in 1954. We had a partial self-government and remembered our early leaders - David Marshall and Lim Yew Hock. In 1959, the PAP swept the general election, thenceforth, we have Lee Kuan Yew. We became a self-governing state in 1959 and joined Malaysia in 1962. Tensions escalated in the region, notably among Malaysia and the Sukarno lead Indonesia. We had racial riots and the notorious bombing of MacDonald house in 1965 by Indonesian militants. After numerous bitter conflicts and differences in political agendas, we separated from Malaysia.
Building the foundation -
Singapore officially gained independence on 9 August 1965, the new state became Republic of Singapore. Yusof bin Ishak was appointed our first President, and Lee Kuan Yew, our first Prime Minister.
During the early days of independence, Singapore faced several difficulties. Our forefathers erected the underpinnings of our nation, laying the bedrock of the nation's 'pyramid'. We faced several problems. Unemployment, housings, sanitation, education, lack of natural resources and land were significant problems that our country encountered. We remembered the Bukit Ho Swee Squatter Fire that left 16,000 homeless. That's when the Housing Development Board (HDB) comes into play, and we have our Central Provident Fund (CPF). Most importantly, we started our first military, Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), and national service was introduced in 1967. The last British troops left in 1971.
Evolution -
People were skeptical and dubious about Singapore's survival. Many said that we won't make it and that we would eventually re-merge with our neighbour Malaysia. But we held on and kept going. The groundwork of our 'pyramid' has been laid as we made the headway in building our nation up to the top. We had a smooth economic progress in the 1980's. With unemployment rate falling low and high real GDP growth of about 8%, Singapore had stable economic developments, making steadfast and substantial impact on the region's economy. We stepped up our industries from labour intensive to high-tech industries, and opened up our economy in various sectors. Manufacturing/production; commerce; business and tourism industry open the way for new economic enterprises. That's where Changi Airport, Singapore Airlines and Port of Singapore comes into the whole blueprint. Futhermore, we have the Singapore Bus Service (SBS) in 1973 and the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in 1987. Not forgetting our own media, Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) in 1980. The HDB also set up new towns to encourage public housings, with Toa Payoh New Town as one of the oldest New Town in Singapore. Since then many New Town projects are schemed to provide better housing for Singaporeans.
The New Age -
In 1990, Lee Kuan Yew, stepped down and Goh Chok Tong became the second prime minister of Singapore. In 1997, Singapore experienced the effect of the Asian financial crisis. Politics in Singapore became stable, with the PAP in total, absolute, supreme control since 1966. We had some of the big-time election 'skirmishes' between the PAP and its opposition, particularly in 1997 , the Cheng San Group Representation Constituency (GRC), and recently the Potong Pasir Single Member Constituency (SMC) and Hougang SMC. We also remember some notable 'important' political characters in Singapore politics. Some are in exile, some bankrupt and many became the victims of the PAP's aggressive onslaught.
-J. B. Jeyaretnam
-Teh Cheang Wan
-Tang Liang Hong
-Francis Seow
-C. V. Devan Nair
-Dr. Chee Soon Juan
-Steve Chia
-James Gomez
Then in 2001, we experienced the threat of terrorism. Uncovering the plot to bomb embassies and Yishun MRT station in Singapore. Following 2003, we were hit with the SARS outbreak, which Singapore did a impressive task to put the epidemic in control.
Now we move on, the problems that Singapore face are different from what we had in our early days. In the process of transforming into a first world country, we implement new policies and make changes to existing ones. We started off from a rural fishing village to a developing industrial nation; eventually progressed to a higher phase, pursuing to compete in the same league with first world countries like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong (PRC) in the region. We had scaled all the way from ground zero to the top of the 'pyramid', building on the strong foundations our fore fathers had laid at the base.
Today, we face new challenges ahead. Present -
In 2004, Lee Hsien Loong, the eldest son of Lee Kuan Yew, became the third prime minister of Singapore. Several changes in policies were made. And today, we face numerous issues and concerns. Questions leading to only more questions unanswered.
Instead of the conventional 'Singaporeans must learn to adapt to changes', 'We must stay strong and united', 'We do care for Singaporeans well-being', 'Together we move on as a nation', 'We will not leave any Singaporean behind' etc...
Singaporeans today want more 'real', substantial, forthright, heartfelt and unpretentious answers that provide no tangible grounds for dubiety. We want answers that addresses the heart of Singaporeans, not answers that were merely drafted manuscripts, hard-copied by some hired pussyfooter.
Looking back recently, we have:

NKF saga~
This is when S$600,000 of taxpayers' money was squandered to pay for the 'peanuts' used to feed the monkeys in NKF. I guess if you want premium monkeys, then you need premium peanuts. Was wondering if the monkeys would get choked by the 'golden peanuts'? Well, in this case, just find yourself a scapegoat (or rather scapemonkey) and hang him. There we have T.T Durai.

Shincorp saga~
49.6% stake of the Shin Corporation sold to Temasek Holdings. All thanks to Thaksin Shinawatra, currently in exile, a resident of London, and owner of the English football club Manchester City. The military coup that overthrew Thaksin forced Temasek to divest majority of its investment in Shin Corporation, again causing millions of taxpayers' money lost. You can't blame the Thais for being so aggressive. Just imagine a Malaysian Government investment arm buys over Singtel?
So this time, who is the patsy? We have the answers in our hearts.

Ministrial Pay Rise~
George W. Bush, Tony Blair and Junichiro Koizumi. Wondered what would Singapore be like if we have 3 Prime Ministers leading our country? Well, judging from the pay our current Prime Minister gets, that's what we can afford to hire. 3 in 1. Well i guess there is alot of difference between 'serve and pay' and 'pay and serve', the latter sounds more money orientated. Can we say that the amount of pay a minister gets will justify the performance of their duties? If so, this means that the Prime Minister of Singapore will be able to lead the nations of US, Britain and Japan together at the same time? Yes, its ok to pay our ministers comfortably, but how much is enough to be comfortable? Handsomely, exuberantly and lavishly paid? To prevent corruption? In the first place, money must never be the primary pull-factor to bring in future ministers. In fact, it should be the nature of love, passion, devotion, patriotism for the country that brings forth an individual to dedicate himself to serve the nation. Money and talent don't go into the equation. We don't pay millions for 'hums' in Mee Siam, CCTVs and maid scandals. Get real!

Transport hikes~
Public transports are services, systems of transport that ferry commuters of the general public from place to place. It should be made fairly affordable and cheap for commuters to travel. From the rate that our transport fares are hiking, i deem them as unfriendly! A S$10 concession will last you at most 2 days if you travel to and fro work. Bare in mind that's just for work alone. Besides work, people will need to travel for social events, i.e class outing/gathering, play sports, run family chores etc. These will cost you another S$10. Imagine going for a game of soccer from Jurong to Ang Mo Kio, already cost you about S$4 for the to and fro train trip? And maybe after game you decided not to go home yet, but to take a bus to Toa Payoh for lunch? One day like this is enough, and it's going to cost a bomb for a month. The most destestable thing is that our transport firms are not losing money, instead they are making handsome profits. They claimed that surveys were carried out and results showed that judging from the income of average Singaporeans, we were able to cope with the hike fairly readily. Well seriously, i think they should just cut their craps about the survey and say "we want more money!". Who knows if those surveys are real. There is nothing you can believe from the media and papers nowadays. They might just say that the sun rises from the west tomorrow morning!

ERP~
It's never easy to drive in Singpapore. The ERP and road taxes are enough to burn a big whole in your pocket, not including monthly car installments, mainteinance and petrol cost. The ERP system is implemented by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in 1998 to ease traffic conjestions on roads and the discourage Singaporeans for driving. Likewise, to encourage Singaporeans to use public transport - which is also getting more costly. Either ways, we will still have to pay and pay. Now here comes the point where i really question the effectiveness of the system. Does it really eases traffic conditions? All the more, it only causes the traffic in a particular road to shift to another smaller road elsewhere, holding up traffic in smaller raods, hence giving greater reasons for the government to erect more gantries. This way of channeling and diverting the traffic makes us wonder whether it really solves the problem, or is it merely a tactic used to corner all vehicles into ERP zones? Making drivers look like sitting ducks in a garrison of ERP gantries.

CPF~
More of Cash Prior to Funeral. Current draw-down age (DDA) for minimum sum is 62, and it is expected to raise gradually to 65 by 2012. With rising life expectancy, an average Singaporean is expected to live for another 15 to 20 years. Planning early for a secure retirement is essential. We can buy houses, pay for education and insurance using our Ordinary Account. We also have the Medisave Account to aid us in hospitalisation expenses and medical insurances. These CPF savings plans provide Singaporeans with several benefits and most importantly adequate security for retirement and old age. But at the end of the day, what's the point of saving up so much for retirement when we are denied of the freedom to govern our hard earn money? Imagine losing your job at 55 years old, then how is one going to feed the mouths in the family with 10 years more to DDA? And now with the annuities mandatory for age 50 and below, this means that Singaporeans will only be able to get the annuities at 85! For all i know, not everyone is going to live to the age of 85. How many Singaporeans can actually still jog, swim, travel overseas, draw CPF and income at the age of 84? If you want to secure us with a safe retirement, please pay us back our money faster. 'Work until old' is more than enough, we don't want to 'work until die'. So once again please pay us back our money, before our annuities becomes 'white gold'.

Tomorrow~
The future of Singaporean lurks in the shadows. From the very first steps of Sang Nila Utama to the the day we stand here. We have come so far out together, building on the blocks of foundations laid by our fore fathers. Now that the wind of change has brought us this high up the pyramid, there is no room for falling behind. As we go higher up, more people are going to fall behind, only the strongest stays at the top of the pyramid. The wind of change goes strong, hopefully not a hurricane...

"Many forms of Government have been tried and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time. - Winston Churchill"

Pause, Rewind.

Always remember those songs my dad listened to during my childhood. Some of these songs are 30 years old, older than me.
Never fails to bring back those bittersweet memories.
Especially now, during exam period, when we wish that we could play like there is no tomorrow.

Just took some time off to hunt for some nice songs.
Good luck to everyone for your exams! Hurrahs!
Enjoy...

SoccerTalk 2

Have you ever wonder why soccer is such a popular sport?
Well, putting the ball into the net alone is not the utmost essence of the game.
Simply because soccer is not just a sport.
Apart from the wonderful display of skills on the pitch, what we have is also a theatre of showmanship, where soccer players engage in dramatic acts of comedy and brawl!

Here are some examples why we simply just love soccer.

1. The Best Diver Award

2. The Tale of Two Clowns

3. Post Match Party

4. The Grass that makes the Difference.

5. Happy Father's Day

6. The Dida

7. When the Knee becomes the Face

Well for now that's all i have.
Certainly more to come...

Tribute: José Mourinho

"Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one"

Honours with Chelsea FC:
- FA Premier League: 2004/2005, 2005/2006
- League Cup: 2004/2005, 2006/2007
- FA Cup: 2007
- FA Community Shield: 2005

On 20th September 2007, José Mourinho relinquished ties with Russian oil tycoon Roman Abramovich, putting an end to his 3 years spell in Chelsea F.C. Mourinho left as the most successful manager in Chelsea's history, winning 6 trophies. He was also undefeated in all his league home games. A remarkable achievement in mere 3 years.
Life in Stamford Bridge has been pretty blue since the departure of their talismanic manager. Apart from all the actions on the pitch, there seemed to be something missing elsewhere in English Football. All the flurry and high-spirited actions along the touchline seemed to sink into a stalemate.
I am not a Chelsea fan. But as long time spuds of English football, we will certainly miss his presence. Though his charisma and wit will not be appreciated by all, they will definitely be a noteworthy addition to the history of football.
Yes, he is cocky and egotistic.
But you have to admit that he is cocksure good and a true-blue maestro of Chelsea F.C.

"If I wanted an easy job... I would have stayed at Porto - beautiful blue chair, UEFA Champions League trophy, God and, after God, me." - José Mourinho

SoccerTalk 1

It's the world's most popular sports.
The most popular sports in 128 countries around the world.
22 men chasing a ball on a 120yd by 80yd pitch.
Yes. That is football.
And this is my very first post on football after 34 entries...

I will like to kick-off with this well known cliche:
"Football is a gentleman's game played by thugs while rugby is a thugs' game played by gentleman."
Certainly true.
Cos' the moment you step onto the pitch, you are in a battlefield.
And by all means, you are going to win it - unless of course kelong la! (Discuss more about kelong next time - too abstract.)
Off the pitch, we will not have any shortfall of actions and drama.
Cos' football is anything under the sun.
We have sex scandals, corruptions, racial discriminations, riots, dressing room brawls, match-fixing, football bettings and any other things you can imagine.

Filthy, dirty and ugly, yet beautiful.
It is the art of football...

Recall~
The very first football match that i watched was the 1996 FA Cup final between Liverpool and Manchester United.
I remembered that match for my whole life!
Cos' after that match, i am a Liverpool fan!

Yes. "You'll never walk alone."

As of now i am a fan of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Germany!
and i fancy Chelsea and Newcastle.

If you were to ask me which was the most memorable match that i had ever watched...
it's definitely this one in 1999...! Classic!

"Wa that's really the most cruel way to lose!
And the most Tai Ko way to win!
Sibei Buay Tahan la...nabei like that also can...他妈的!
You see Samuel Kuffour dua buay tahan until he kneel down and cry la...
Lothar Matthaus diam diam chui tak lan lo...
I will remember 1999 Champions League Final in Nou Camp forever!"

This is what soccer is all about...
Love it, hate it, swear and curse...

It's a wonder how much a simple ball can bring to our life...

10 is The Number!

Yes!
This coming 31st December 2007 marks the cracking 10th Anniversary of our friendship!
Quick, twiddle your fingers and do the countings!

Why not just take a moment and think back...
When you first stepped into class 106...till the moment you read my blog now...
You wouldn't dream of this prodigious day come true, would you?
But it is happening right now!
10 years of legend has unveiled.
Clasp your fist and execute an UPPERCUT blow into the air to exalt this remarkable brotherhood!
This picture above is the hallmark of our friendship.
Believe me, i have this picture framed up on my desk.
It will be a priceless memento in many many years to come...
Imagine your grandson ask you: "Gong Gong, how was your secondary school friends like?"
*Cough Cough...
"Nah, there you see...AHYA~ we all dua bastard one la..."

Somehow, I got this nutty or stupid or childish (whatever you call it) idea...

One of these days before the end of this year, we shall all go back to BPGHS (the same place, same people, same position, same post) and snap a similar photo as the one above.

So what you guys think?

On bo~?

Odyssey of Life

Sometimes we just wished that we can go back in time.
Back to the time when we can change things or start things all over again.
Unfortunately, we do not have the luxury of doing so.
We can only grow older.
Time sails. Time flies.
Here today, gone tomorrow.
I really do miss those days when i was a kid...

Remember those good old days...
~When we had our game of marbles at our primary school's backyard.
~Polishing those 'exquisite' silver and chromatic coloured marbles in class.
~When i tore my shoes over the game of 'Pepsi Cola'.
~Jumping from one sit-up plank to another, in the game of 'Crocodile'.
~The renowned game of 'Block Catching' after school, where i hid in my friend's house.
~Burn Laterns during Mid-Autumn Festival.
~Puffing bubble-like balloons using a small yellow straw. Comes along with a tube of gluey-gummy-like paste. (Cost around 5-10 cents, don't know whether they still sell them now?)
~Saturday evening WWF (Hulk Hogan, Diesel, Razor Ramon, Bret Hart, Roddy Piper, The Undertaker & Paul Bearer, Shawn Michaels...)
~Also saturday 6pm(if i am not wrong), my favourite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
~Then we also have all the wonderful cartoons. Captain Planet, G.I. Joe, TailSpin, Batman, Spiderman, Pinky and the Brain, Popeye the Sailor, Tom & Jerry...etc
~Not forgetting those wacky gadgets!! We have Digimon and the Tamagotchi! Where we have to cut off a small rectangular piece of plastic film from the back cover of our school file, just to execute the cheat codes to spawn our ultimate Teddymon/Slugmon...

Gone are those days...

then come another chapter...
~My Pink IC turns fucking green.
~SBO, Helmet and Fullpack became my best friends.
~I had a wife name M16. Clean her from day to night, hug her even when i am asleep.
~My favourite cosmetics were the black and green camo creams. Fuck.
~Where there is no end to toilet cleaning. (It will never be clean)
~Forced to remove fucking pubic hairs from the fucking choked urinals with my fucking bare hands.
~Mosquito bites over my ass even when i shit.
~Dig foxholes that were worse than digging my own grave.
~"Chao Jibuy", "LanJiao", "Kan Ni Na", "Fuck" were just formalities of greetings.
~Bo Dai Bo Chi change Smart 4 to Long 4 to Admin Attire to PT Attire to FBO to Civilian Attire like nobody's business! (Yes, we still have change parade now!)
~ SOC, IPPT, Range are premium 'annuities' to our life.
~Wild boars drank my '100 plus' - my only source of luxury outfield.
~Everything summed up in 2 words - Fucked up.

Got my Pink IC back!
Salvation...phew...!

Chapter - Present Day...
~Snoozed my alarm clock for the 10th time.
~Wake up. LATE!
~MRT
~Fucking Bus 179. (Feels like dispatching captives to concentration camps)
~Lecture. LATE
~Tutorial. Copy answer.
~Eat (Can't even have a proper meal - Canteen packed like Hungry Ghost Festival)
~Tests. Fail.
~Exam. Panic. 'Tabao'
~GPA 2.1. Sibei Buay Gan.

what's next?? Ahya~
Our lives go on as the chapter continues...
In life, there are times when we smile, cry (Chinese get B3??), laugh, 'stone'...and there are some things that we chose to forget.
Life is like a journey. A journey through wonders.
From birth, the only thing that we know for certain is death.
Seperating birth and death is a boulevard of dreams.
Along this road, we will meet Fate-Lady Luck, Karma-Miracles, Love-Hate, Joy-Grief, Peace-Suffering...and many more others yet to come.
Setbacks are inevitable, it is the wisdom that we gained from these lessons that make us rich.
As the saying goes “潮起有潮落”, there are times when things don't go our way, but we have to move on, and hope for the better - which is yet to come.
“人生七十古来西”.
Life is short.
“既来之,则安之”.
Make the best out of it and i will see you at the end...smiling.

Reminiscence - Part1D

1998 BPGHS Secondary 106:

As i was searching through my wardrobe, i stumbled upon this very 'aged' jersey.
Somehow it elicits the emotions in me and i was triggered to write the final part of our secondary 1 accounts.

~The First Jersey~

The jersey above was discovered in one of the compartments of my wardrobe, possibly discarded and abandoned for ages at the bottom of the compartment. Sounds more like a fossil entombed in my wardrobe, this ancient artifact has been buried for close to 10 years! Its existence was dated back to 1998, where we marked our inaugural chase for the inter-class soccer tournament.
It was our very first team jersey
- Blackburn Rovers.
The jersey was bought from a night market at Choa Chu Kang. As we were not able to afford the genuine stuff, we had to settle for imitation. But why a Blackburn Rovers jersey? That's simply because there were no Rovers supporters in our class team. We have Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle supporters all over our team, therefore to avert any arguments, it was a wise choice.

~Inter-class Soccer~
Our soccer campaign kicked off with great intensity and zeal. Everyone was anticipating a great start to the tournament.
The preliminaries consisted of 2 groups.
Our group consisted of class 1A, 102 and 107.
We beat 102 1-0, drew with 107 1-1, and lost to 1A (not sure about the score).
Sad to say, we did not made it through the group stages.
We will be back next season!

* I recalled Siong Chie scored a goal against 102. My goal-bound shot was on its way in, but he pounced onto it and slot the ball into the net, with much ease. A classic example of FOX - in- the box!
{But FOX + PIG = THOMAS, unfortunately he is just a PIG away from being THOMAS.
" jibye eat until so big like a pig still play dis type of childish thing.. " (Quote from: http://siongchie.blogspot.com/, Thursday, September 6, 2007, 12:18 AM, paragraph 2, line 7.)}

~Runaway Schoolboy~
This account was a rather short one.
It happened during one of our english lesson.
For some reason, there was this uppersecondary student trying to clamber the school fence just outside our classroom. Obviously trying to skip school.
But before he could accomplish his remarkable feat, he was duly spotted by Gimson.
Gimson reported the incident to our teacher Miss Ng.
She was quick to react to the incident and the student was subdued in a matter of time.
The student's fate was sealed when he was turned over to our discipline master.

~The Film Container Saga~
I shall not elaborate on this particular incident in order to protect the privacy of some personnel involved. The title speaks for itself. And i am sure many of the readers know what i mean.

#
Secondary 1 was the year when things were still at its build-up state, or we can say adaptation. It was the time when individual personalities started to unfold, where various small groups were established within the class. Turmoils were inevitable. We often had strifes and a little bit of hassles here and there which i did not mention. Ultimately, we were just a bunch of raunchy and mischievious kids trying to break free into the realm of the earthy world.
No doubt our nonsense will continue and there are more to come in subsequent years, so there won't be any shortfall of "entertainments". Wilfulness is our mastery, but every teacher's nightmare!
It is our trait!

Stay tuned for more drama in secondary 2...

国家兴龙,李所当然!

'369' (Sa Lak Gao)
'303' (Sa Kong Sa)
'18' (Zhup Pueh Sio Kun Tong)
'24 Ghee Hai Kim '

Pai Gia

Remember the Face

2000-2001
2007(Present)
6 years had passed since we graduated from BPGHS. Time really flies. 6 years passed like a blink of the eye.
Many things changed.
We grow physically and emotionally.
Emotionally, we become tougher and more matured (For some cases not really).
Physically, we grow taller, stronger and our features develop.

Take a look at the pictures above. Somehow or rather, i don't see much changes in us. Let's just consider our appearances. Most of us didn't change, we look 90% similar to what we look like 6 years ago. Some of us did not change at all! Strange...maybe because we have be seeing each other quite frequently, but to other people we seemed to have changed dramatically. Occasionally, when i met some ex-classmates/schoolmates outside, i realised that they had changed quite alot, and i had to pause to recall for a moment. Especially girls. You might not even recognise them.
It's sad that we are all victims of time, time does not wait for anyone.
One day we will all be history.
Well i guess it is time to get old and grey...
...Remember our faces!

我们当中,谁的脸变得最多?
是KaiJie, SiongChie, Stanley, JunJie, XuXian, ZhiPeng, 还是我??

“你看他的fringe,一直在滴水。。。”

Home Ground - Breeding Home

Take a look at the picture below.Well, just another ordinary street soccer court.
Nothing special.
But it meant alot for us.
It was a favourite rendezvous for the soccer fanatics of 206'99.
It was the place where,

  • we spent our sunday mornings sweating out,
  • we yakked about saturday night EPL matches,
  • Siong Chie got rammed until his hands almost gave way,
  • JunJie hammered a thumping drive that ruptured the soccer ball,
  • KaiJie and Stanley celebrated their 20th birthday,
  • Liu showed off how many push-ups he can do,
  • Liu travelled all the way from Redhill to Woodlands just to play soccer (appreciated),
  • Haw Yng became 'Mac-Float',
  • I broke my right ankle on 1st December 2002

and most importantly,
the place where the blood of 206'99 runs for 9 years!

Recently, we just named it "The Arena".
For some particular reason, i shall not disclose why we named it that way. HAHA

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But for some absurd reason, The Arena was never the same again.
For some 'Top Talents' of our nation decided to make something more 'useful' out of this place.
Last year, The Arena was overhauled and converted into a Greenery.
Authorities claimed that the reason for this change was to add more flowerage and greenery to the estate.
Alright, a fair enough reason that one can accept.
But what's so sickening and dumb about this whole thing is as shown below...
More flowerage and greenery?
The pictures speak for themseleves.
Look at that particular plant.
I think it has barely grown a feet since it was planted there last year!
So this is what the 'Top Talents' are gifted for.
Making a mockery out of themselves.
Great! Cast your votes now!
Here we are trying to eradicate Dengue mosquitoes, there we have people breeding them!
And you know what's the irony?
It's the same people who fight and breed them.
That place looks more like a mosquito breeding heaven than whatsoever greenery fuck shit.
The once blistering and fiery blood of 206'99 that engulfed the place, is now overwhelmed by blood-thirsty mosquitoes!
I really don't understand these people.
Hai...
永远无足
最近我和俊杰在某间广场的食阁(XXX Foodcourt)饮食。
有些东西让我们感到有点不满。
对许多人来说,这也许只是件小事,不会造成很大的影响。
但是,仔细想一想,却有点Fuck。
我们这些老百姓,每天只是过一天算一天,当一天和尚敲一天钟,得过且过。
可是有些人却得寸进尺,贪得无厌。
很多次我们都是以比较随便的心态接受。。。
“啊呀,随便啦!多$0.50而已,算了啦。”
一罐Coke卖$1.50。
一盘鸡饭卖$3.80。
未免太过分了吧!
甚至可以算是在光天化日下打劫,‘杀人放火’,Tai Lang Pang Hei。
说起价就起,好象lim pei家里是印钞票的啊?他妈的!
东西的价格一直升长,不见得薪水会增加!
以前食阁卖的汽水,一罐Coke最多是$1.20。
而且$1.20也算贵了,现在竟敢卖$1.50,buay tahan!
还有一间摊子,卖什么Jibye "Hotplate Fried Rice Set Meal",卖$9.60!
(不用粗话形容是不行的)
我看了都火气蒸发,“你要我买?等久久!那种炒饭我自己也会炒啦!”
如果是什么豪华餐厅我还能接受,可是那只是间食阁而已,就敢卖到这么贵!
对!现在有钱人越来越多。
但是穷的人也不少。
这小小的钱对富有的人来说并不是问题。
但积少成多,对经济有困难的人会造成长期的问题。
其实我也不是不讲道理,我了解做生意的人都是要赚钱,哪里有人要做亏本生意?
所以有时候我不介意给别人赚多一点,不会计较那么多。
可是现在你们自己看看,多少才算够?一罐Coke $5?
看来答案很简单
“永远都不够!”
现在的社会真的是很残忍无情。(当然好人还是有的)
人是这样,社会也是这样,国家更不用讲。
经济不好,石油价格增长的时候,政府提高消费税,巴士地铁车费增长等等。。。
这是难免的。
但是经济好转时,不见得我们有的好过?
消费税和东西的价格还不是照样增长。
最近还增加消费税,从5%起到7%。
说要帮助经济有困难的家庭。
接着又自行加公务员的薪水。
表面上标榜得很好,实际上并不如此。
Humph!挂羊头卖狗肉。
真是此地无银三百两!
什么Top Talent?
实际上,真正的Top Talent是不会留在这里的。
"We don't need Robin Hood...偷吃东西后,记得把口插干净!"
谁的心声
为何打开了心 却又无法容纳你
花开了花谢了 情绪依然无法泄
多么很想离去 再见无法说出口
往事流如潮水 而伤心结如冰块
人海大无际涯 人影却沧海一粟
爱到天涯海角 心声却渺无声息
月光照射水面 水面影子不是我
仿佛落花有意 但只怕流水无情
色彩缤纷 五颜六色
黄色杰出 黄花晚节
褐色污秽 污如烂泥
褐与褐合 黄与黄旺
褐与黄配 褐黄成灾
色彩差别 心中有数
互不干扰 风平浪静
“很想抓它们其中一个来。。。”
Just for Music
郭富城 and 巫啟賢 are both coming to Singapore in September and October respectively. So, i shall introduce some of their nice songs!
In addition, i will like to share another classic bonus track, 跟往事干杯 by 姜育恆
郭富城
Heavenly King. After all these years, still the charming and suave Aaron that we knew since young. Most importantly, his dazzling and ravishing dances are back. Not a bad singer, but more recognised for his beefy and sexy build. 42 this year, but he is definitely hot stuff!
This is one of my favourite songs from 郭富城...
查無此人 - 郭富城
巫啟賢
Underrated singer. Not many people actually identify him as a great singer. Most of his songs are heavy-hearted and grief-strickened love songs. Definitely not in favour of those heartbroken people!
I am definitely honoured to share the same birthday as him, and also attended the same Junior College as him too...
Do you believe that 傷心的人更傷心?
Well, that's my favourite 巫啟賢 song.
I do believe...
The Green Organisation - Part1
Apparently, there is this particular organisation in our country that people seemed to denounce and stigmatise.
The Green Organisation.
Oh, but be mindful that this organisation is actually recognised as the most dynamic, most competent, most capable and most potent force in South East Asia.
Surely not a force to reckoned with!
Clearly in conjunction with the name of the organisation, it overseas the whole Ecosystem of our country. From the wholly Garden City to the Botanical Garden and the Neighbourhood Parks, for it is omnipresent, but its wherabouts are classified.
The organisation seems to be so environmental conscious that every personnel wears green. Futhermore, it has numerous advertisements and posters pinned up in bus stops, train stations etc, to flaunt its authority and greatness.
ABOVE SELF, BEYOND DUTY.
NOT FOR FAME OR FORTUNE.
FROM THIS LAND WE ARE MADE, FOR THIS LAND WE WILL FIGHT.
For we, commuters, look on with our eyebrows raised.
Some don't even bother to look.
Brilliant, splendid, ouststanding, superb and so eminent that people don't even need to look to hail its grandeur!
Employment is simple.
It involves 2 phases.
Phase 1: Any young, healthy and fit - abled - male person above the age of 18 years old is eligible for enrollment. Contract lasts 2 years.
Phase 2: After fulfilling your phase 1 contract, you will be allowed to leave. You will be classified under Nature Reserves, but subjected to a mandatory clause of re-employment once/twice or more every year(Depends on which department you are in). Re-employment usually lasts for about a week, and if you are lucky enough, the organisation might even send you for overseas ventures and enterprises! Bless you!
Let us take a look at some of the common abbreviations used in this organisation(in hierarchical order from highest to lowest). In this case, we shall look at a small Neighbourhood Park:
  • Cheerful Orchid - CO : Wonder what is so good about the day? Ask him. He is always smiling. No matter what situation he is in, he always maintains a cheerful disposition. Most importantly, just by smiling, he can get all the things done! Rarely get to meet him. Appears only in major business functions. Favourite shoutout: "Well done guys! Good job!"
  • Oblivion Chrysanthemum - OC : The man who is always there but nowhere to be found. His presence is always felt. Mysterious? Ask him how he do it. "Is OC in today? i need to let him sign some documents." "Ya he is in. But he went off for meeting with CO." Favourite shoutout: "Ehh gentlemen, later i got to go for a meeting at..."
  • Chronic Slogging Magnolia - CSM : Allegedly the most feared person in terms of flora cultivation. Maintains high level of cultivation discipline. Deals with plant behaviours, plant hygiene, plant sanitation, plant welfare and many others. Plans the work schedule for fellow workers. He is also the Master of Parade, i.e: during any flower exhibition or display, he is the chief in-charge of the whole event, acquires the power to overwhelm even his superiors! He is one of the busiest person in this industry, slogging the whole day, running around the grounds to chase cats and dogs, which also makes him a very skillful Archer as he can shoot numerous arrows at one shot, anytime anyplace. Usually he will finish all his arrows and leave none for himself, so that he can go for more canteen breaks and smoking breaks. Favourite shoutout: "You go and sign 3 extras..."
  • Perilous Carnation - PC : Almost, if not, agreebly the same type as OC. But he is more dangerous, because he is closer to all the workers. He acts as if he knows his stuffs well, acts nice in front of his workers, but ultimately he has hidden agendas. Basically, he is a very well trained actor and he Only Can Shout. His hands cannot be dirty, as they are solely for holding pens and papers only. He is always busy, but you can never justify that, because he is always away, always going for never-ending meetings. Favourite shoutout: same as OC
  • Possessed Sunflower - PS : He is sometimes nice, sometimes bad. His role is to assist the CSM. When he is nice, everything seems possible and negotiable, on the other hand, when he is bad, he seems to be possessed by CSM. He takes care of the welfare of the plants in his department. Favourite shoutout: "Eh 有烟吗?走lei一起去抽烟lei..."
  • Shit Garner Tulip - SGT (Sometimes called SC) : Neither here nor there. You can say "stucked in between". The most likely victims of the arrows. Sometimes out of the blue got hit by multiple arrows. No room for mercy, because no one can save you. The word 'Theory' is never in their dictionary. In fact, they do not have any dictionary! No pens and papers, as the middle finger is what their hands can offer best! "Get your hands and legs moving!" Hands are meant for mud and feet are meant for blisters! No time for rules and protocols, just get the job done! Favourite shoutout: Any other form of cursing and swearing languages.
  • Grass - Men : The lowest form of being ever existed. Basically, a slave. Just carry out whatever that is instructed by superiors. Moreover, it can be considered a Blessing in Disguise. Most importantly - No responsibilties to shoulder. But usually they have to succumb to "suck thumb" situations. The only time you see them smiling is when they are looking for superiors to endorse their off-passes/medical appointments/medical leaves. Favourite shoutout: "Eh Sir, we got how many days off..." and also most likely followed by an outburst of flowery languages.
Be Decisive!
爱情的模样/魔鬼!
~爱情的模样~
有人说:“爱很简单”
爱情本来应该就是简简单单的,因为我相信简单爱也是一种美丽。
可是我们在寻找这简单爱的过程中,这所谓的‘简单爱’已经并不简单了。
有多少人为情而流泪,为情失眠,甚至失去了一切,到头来还不是回到原点。
什么天长地久,什么爱你一万年,什么真爱?
我只担心等不到!
没有一个人是不需要爱情。
往往缘分就在你的附近,只是我们没有把握。
以真诚而恳切对待彼此。
只有真心才能显出真爱。
只有真爱才经得起各种考验。
没有经过考验的爱不是真爱。
考验让彼此的爱更坚强。
风雨无阻。
说这么多,有谁能办得到?
这世界根本都没有完美的爱情。
没有人的爱情是十全十美的。
只有你心目中的她,才是永远的完美。
这就是爱情。
~爱情的魔鬼~
我们在情场上往往都会碰见好多种人。
有时候我们也不知不觉成了其中之一。
  1. Player - 很会‘玩’人,玩到别人Buay Tahan,很会act blur,Gei Si,很会风流。
  2. Conman - 采取欺骗的方式来使人感动而相信,通常都是以年龄比较小的人下手。
  3. General - 爱情将军,情场得意,百发百中。
  4. Stone - 木头,Bo Chup,什么感觉也没有,什么都是normal la, friends only la。
  5. Puppet - 爱情傀儡,被人‘玩’到Buay Tahan,失去了控制,而且是心甘情愿的。
  6. Slave - 爱情的奴隶, 一直被困在情网里,Buay Ding Dang,受伤最严重的。
  7. Noob - 什么都不懂,什么都不会,从来没有爱过。
你又是属于哪一种呢?
这七种人当中,我们该小心哪一些呢?
最主要的是第1和2的人。
尤其是第2种的人!
虽然我也很讨厌第1种的人,可是我就是故意要讲这第2种的人。
许多无辜的受害者已经陷入了魔鬼的掌心!
哈!
幸好到现在我还没有见过这种人。
如果你们认识这种人,请让我知道ok??
我也想见见这个人的模样!
欢迎!Sorry No Party!
最近我刚刚允许Jun参入我的blog。
Silent_Assasin就是Jun。
欢迎加入,从今天起你也是这个blog的贡献者之一。
说到这里,我也要谢谢Siong。因为是他教我怎么add authors的。
这种东西Siong最厉害的,他认第二,没有人敢认第一!
哈哈哈!
可是最好笑的是,Siong既然叫我让他加入。
为什么你每次喜欢开party来join in the fun?
打麻将看别人打清一色‘九张包索’,你也要开party来跟人家biah清一色‘万’,差一点害到别人。看来你是一个很喜欢party的人!Dua Party Gia!
好了不要讲太多,可是真的很抱歉不能让你加入。再说,你自己都有blog了,而且你的blog真的是sibei Hiong,我的那里比的上你的?这么多你的小妹妹's的links,我们要link你都Hiong到有error。JunJie是因为他自己没有blog,所以我让他跟我一起共用,你有你自己的blog已经够了la。Paisei 我是不喜欢party的。
Karaoke Top 5 (Bastard Version)
These are the Top 5 songs that i will like to recommend to all out there when you go karaoke.
It's a must for every karaoke session!
You can try them, but its only applicable if you are as bastard as me...
爱的主打歌 - 蕭亞軒
Actually, we don't really sing this song. Sometimes we just let it play over and over again for one reason - Just to see Elva! She is simply irresistible, gorgeous and hot! Just watch her dance in the MTV. Trust me, your imaginations will go wild!
Ratings: Sibei HOT.
轧车 - 五月天
This one is another favourite. Confirm plus chop will sing. Never fail to sing it in any of our karaoke outings. Make sure to turn up the volume too. But a piece of advice: Don't sing it too early, leave it for the later part, if not, you may just lose your voice.
Ratings: Sibei SONG.
神啊救救我 - 陈小春
This song is only for people who are very cynical about life. Like me. Just remember to take note of the lyrics. 人生是黑白的 = “人生是JiBye的!”
Ratings: Sibei Bastard.
再會吧!我的心上人 - 動力火車
Wa! This one even worse than 轧车! If you already lose your voice from singing 轧车, then i advice you not to try this. It's even much more SONG! Classic! Every karaoke session sure must have! But remember to leave it for the very last. Unfortunately i can't find any videos, but just by listening, you can feel it!
Ratings: Gan Phua SONG
恋曲1990 - 罗大佑
Finally this song! Ha! We call this the 'never ending song'! You can forget about going home. Try the 1980 and the 2000 version too. Every 10 years sure got a new version, I am waiting for his 2010 version. It's really never ending...it just goes on and on and on and on and on...
Ratings: Sibei Buay Tahan
福建歌 - 最爽!
刚刚不久,在六月的时候,五月天在新加坡开了演唱会。我们本来有两张$88的票,可是不知为什么,不想去看,结果把票卖给别人。
也许是没有钱,或者是没兴趣,但是我认为主要原因是因为我们对他们前一次的演唱会(2005年)感到有一点失望。
那时的演唱会是在EXPO举办。我,KaiJie, KaiWen, SiongChie, Stanley 和 XuXian 一起去看。买了$98 的票。
演唱会并不是很差,可以算是不错,只是我们觉得还是不够“爽”,还可以更好!那时在EXPO的音乐设备还有些不理想,听起来有一点象‘歌台’的感觉。
最重要的是,他们已经很少唱以前的那些闽南语(福建)歌了,大多数都是唱新歌。有几首我们很想听的福建歌,他们都没唱,感到有点遗憾。再说,现在五月天的新歌,都是比较普遍性的,好象有点失去了他们以前的风格。
我想这也不难怪,因为新加坡现在的年轻人都很少听他们的福建歌(甚至有些人都听不懂),所以有好几首歌在我国并不是很受欢迎。自然的,五月天在新加坡的演唱会就会比较少唱福建歌(台湾的就不同lo!)。
我看现在也不容易再听到他们唱那些歌了,所以我就自己找出来听!以下是我最喜欢的4首五月天的歌(全部都是福建歌)。。。
第一:憨人
第二:好不好
第三:I Love You 无望
第四:有你的将来
“是按怎那会这爽!”
Reminiscence - Part1C
1998 BPGHS Secondary 106:
~Hack~
I can't really remember the details clearly.
But definately this time Liu is the victim. (Haha!)
I remembered last time we were still using the Dial-up internet connection.
Out of the blue, we just decided to hack Liu's internet account.
Me, SiongChie and YongXian were the culprits.
If i am not wrong Siong is the one who managed to obtain Liu's IC number.
We went to Siong's house and phoned the customer service.
Reset Liu's internet password.
Somehow he discovered that we hacked his internet account.
And Gimson was on his side.
Following that incident, there was quite a hefty conflict between me and Gimson.
And I recalled that there was a few confrontations as well.
Quite surprised that JunJie wasn't involved.
Heh.
~World Cup '98~
It was the World Cup Season.
I bought the original copy of the World Cup '98 game.
I remembered it cost around $90+.
(Means quite alot to me that time, till now i still have it under my desk)
Another strife between me and Gimson.
It started like this...
I remembered very cleary that time me and JunJie went to Gimson's house.
I brought along that World Cup '98 game to his house.
After playing for a few hours in his house, we left.
When i reached home, i realised that i lost my World Cup '98 game.
I asked JunJie about it, but he did not take it.
So i assumed that i left it in Gimson's house.
I called Gimson.
Asked him to search for the game in his room.
He told me he couldn't find it anywhere.
I was damn furious and demanded another new copy of the game from him.
(Cause i was very certain that i left it in his room)
He refused.
That time i really was sibei buay song!
我以为他故意把那个game收起来,然后说“找不到”,就把它占为己有!
The dispute was about to reach its climax when all of a sudden there was a big hoo-ha.
Gimson called and told me his mom took it!
Gimson's mom thought it was his.
She confiscated it because she didn't want Gimson to play games.
(His mom is known to be very strict)
In the end, i had to call his mom personally.
To claim it back and also to prove that it was mine (In case Gimson is lying).
Ridiculous.
But it happened.
~RubberBall~
Certainly, i remembered this very clearly!
Initially, not many people in our class play soccer.
Only me and YongXian actually played soccer in primary school.
(Not sure whether i missed out KaiJie)
We bought a cheap 'black and white checkered' rubberball.
After school, me and YongXian went to a shelter under my block to kick around.
The next day, i brought the ball to school.
Was actually expecting more people to join us for soccer.
During recess, i think only me, YongXian, SiongChie, KaiJie and HengKa (not so sure) were interested, so we went over to the field to kick around.
We used the 'monkey bar' beside the volleyball court as our goal post.
(Eventually it became our favourite spot for shooting practice)
Then don't know where the fuck he appear from.
This 'kelong referee' (Muhd Fadly - 1 year senior than us) come over and sneered at us.
Mocking at our rubberball.
Really sibei Paisei.
I remembered he said aloud: "Big boys already still play with rubberballs."
Buay Song.
Buay Tahan.
But i humji.
So that was the last time we actually saw that rubberball.
~106 league~
Wa this part really hiong.
And Classic also. (2nd to Titanic)
I also don't know how to start.
The soccer culture in our class suddenly erupted to life!
Every single male in ur class actually got involved.
Even people like Thye Heng and Cheong JunJie also participated!
Utterly impressed!
It was the begining of our 'Golden Age'.
From index number 18 to 41:
18. Cheong JunJie (100 degrees Milo)
19. Stanley Chiang
20. Chuah TeongLeong (God)
21. Ee SongBei (De Goey)
22. Er SiongChie (Hiong/but now guai liao)
23. Goh ThyeHeng (Aaron Kwok 郭富城)
24. Hoh WeiJie
25. Lim HengKa (Ming Xin/Dua Extra)
26. Lim YongXian
27. Gimson Lin
28. Lin ZheXian (Bae Yong Joon)
29. Liu ZhiPeng (Mohd Abdul Anwar Ibrahim Bruise.../too long cannot write finish)
30. Neo Haw Yng (Fuck)
31. ME (Dua Bastard)
32. Ng ChongMing (Triple H)
33. Ng Tian Peng (Ash Ketchum - Pokemon Trainer/Completed Gold and Silver Version)
34. Pang XuXian (The Leopard)
35. Daniel Quek (Cow)
36. Quek YinKang (Billy)
37. Edward Sam
38. Soh KaiJie
39. Thomas Tan Wee Lin (PuiLin)
40. Wong JunJie (Brahma 猪)
41. Bryan Yeo
Total of 24 guys.
We formed a league consisting of 4 teams (We called them 'clubs').
6 players in each 'club'.
And each 'club' had its own manager/captain. (Forgot who were the 4 captains)
Games were played during recess and some after school.
We even had our own Transfer Market!
And we held our 'transfer talks' and negotiations during class lessons!
Example:
SiongChie worth $10m, KaiJie - $15m, HengKa - $12m...etc
"Eh i want to buy SiongChie over to my club for $8m...cheaper la..."
We also have our Top Scorers Chart, Man-of-the Match, Player of the Season, all the statistics from the games...etc...(too much i can't remb)
We had all these information recorded in a file and book! (Now lost liao can't find).
(Really is sibei Hiong 的enthu la!)
Still remember in one of those games,
(For those who don't know, when i mention JunJie/Jun means i am referring to Wong JunJie hor, if is Cheong JunJie i will just say Cheong.)
JunJie and WeiJie had a bad fight on the pitch.
Dua 打到很hiong, and i remembered the match had to be suspended
For some reasons, the league didn't last long. (i can't remember how it ended)
But our love for the game didn't stop us.
There are bound to be brawls and tiffs here and there.
Through these we will grow stronger.
The passion is there.
Passion and Desire to Win.
Will lead us to greater heights.
-weiyi-
It's not over yet, it's just the begining...
"...still remember last time TV got SportsCity, dua free one somemore, watch soccer and World Cup '98 watch until song...Now lei? HUMPH...bo wuay gong..."
Fortunate One
*
Just to sidetrack abit. Heh. Just managed to find out how to upload videos onto my posts (sibei noob). Also finally found the videos for the 垃圾车(朋友版) and 红日 MTV, really damn hard to find the 朋友版 for 垃圾车. And the 红日, look at 李克勤 also want to laugh.
Late at night.
I was searching through my WMP. For some reason, i came across this old song from Phil Collins, 'Another Day in Paradise'. It was a 1989 song if i am not wrong. The feeling was just...
Awe-inspiring.
This song reminded me of the following songs:
Heal the World (Children sufferings) - Michael Jackson
Earth Song (Environmental and political)- Michael Jackson
Fortunate Son (Vietnam War) - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Have You Ever Seen the Rain? (Vietnam War) - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Wrote a Song for Everyone (Vietnam War) - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Who'll Stop the Rain (Vietnam War) - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Give Peace a Chance (World Peace) - John Lennon
Shoot The Dog (War on Terror) - George Michael
There's a Hole in the World (September 11) - Eagles
Amani (World Peace)- Beyond
光辉岁月 (Racism) - Beyond
These are all politically acclaimed songs that deal with worldly issues which people seem to neglect.
True, they are all very nice and heart-rending songs that foster deep empathy.
But wouldn't it be nicer if it wouldn't exist at all?
“一山还有一山高”,on the other hand i think, “一山还有一山矮”.
Sometimes even ground zero.
There is always someone richer than you, and someone much poorer than you.
But most of the time we tend to forget the latter.
Well, maybe that's why our eyes are placed in front, which explains why we have to look foward in life.
When we climb up the stairs or ladder, we look up to our destination up ahead.
Seek out our goals, pursue our dreams, work towards our ambitions up ahead.
But how many of us actually stop for a moment and take a look back at the people left behind us?
We may be taking 3 steps up at a time, but some of the people behind are finding it hard to even take a single step up.
I have one person say: "I want a Lexus SC 430 convertible."
We have millions crying out: "We have no food and shelter."
Can you imagine how much ONE piece of bread means to millions of hunger-stricken people out there?
And how many millions is Bill Gates earning in ONE hour?
Sometimes we often look at the closed door that we fail to see the one that is opened.
Food.
Shelter.
Clothes.
Be thankful for what we have now.
Cause millions out there don't even have them.
Count your blessings, not your riches.
We may see the same sunrise everyday, but for many people out there, they may not even see the sunrise tomorrow.
"...i am not asking you to do something about it, but just take a moment to think about it. Just give it a thought. We are very fortunate indeed..."
Another Day in Paradise - Phil Collins
She calls out to the man on the street:
"Sir, can you help me?
It's cold and I'm nowhere to sleep.
There's somewehere you can tell me?"
He walks on, doesn't look back.
He pretends he can't hear her.
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there.
*Refrain:
Oh, think twice, cause it's another day for
You and me in paradise.
Oh, think twice, it's just another day for
You and me in paradise.
Think about it.
She calls out to the man on the street
He can see she's been crying
She's got blisters on the soles of her feet
She can't walk but she's tryin'.
Oh, Lord, is there nothing more anybody can do?
Oh, oh Lord, there must be something You can say
You can tell from the lines on her face
You can see that she's been there
Probably been moved on from every place 'cause she didn't fit in there.
Accept or Tolerate?
'Accept' and 'tolerate' may be two different words, but when they are used in a certain context, we may see that they are actually quite closely related. But yet again they are not similar, just separated by a thin line.
I used to think that 'accept' and 'tolerate' are more or less the same.
Often in our daily lives, when we are dealing with people, a certain level of tolerance will be accompanied by acceptance, likewise, to a certain level of acceptance, there is surely tolerance involved. Sounds more like a paradox. It is like saying that "standing is more tiring than walking", but aren't we also standing when we are walking?
(Hmm...fuck la.)
Go by the conventional way.
Check dictionary.
Accept:
-to accommodate or reconcile oneself to.
-to regard as true or sound.
-to regard as normal, suitable, or usual.
Tolerate:
-to bear or endure without repugnance; put up with.
-put up with something or somebody unpleasant.
So there is actually a big difference. The most crucial point to note is that there is actually a level of forced 'Tahan' involved in tolerance. And that Buay Tahan results from some Buay Song (discontentment/displeasure/anguish) which one is forced to endure or bear! So it means that one is compelled, constrained, or obliged to accept under some circumstances. Whereas to accept means that to bring yourself to an agreement or harmony willingly. There is no endurance or bearing involved, basically 'living with it'.
So when it comes to friendship:
Sometimes i wonder whether i am tolerating or i just merely accepted it. You may have realised that some people are just damned bastard/fucked up, everything he does and says just don't come in agreement with you, but still
Why do you still treat him as a friend?
Why do you still want to offer your help?
Why do you still want to talk to him?
Are you actually tolerating him or you have accepted him for what he is? Think think....sometimes i think it is because you have known that person for a long time (let's say 9 years), because of that you have already accepted him for who he is. Whereas if he is a someone new, then 他早就被打死了! If you have already accepted him, then just let him be and let it be. But if you are still tolerating a 'friend' of yours, then i think that's unhealthy to the friendship, as you are actually jeopardising the goodwill of your friendship.
How long can you tolerate?
One day everything is going to erupt. Do something about it. "Before he ends up behind the bars".
When it comes to relationship:
这个世界什么种人都有. Everyone is different.
This is the reason why people get together.
Sometimes we will hear our friends or people around us making comments like:
"Wa 那个男人这么haolian, 脾气又很坏,不知道为什么那个女人会喜欢他?"
"Wa 他这个人这么childish, 不懂为什么那个女人会跟他在一起?"
"Wa 他这么瘦又矮,而且又不handsome, 不知道为什么他的女朋友会喜欢他?"
"Ahyo 她才16岁,这么childish, 不知道他为什么喜欢她?"
"Hai 她一点都不漂亮lor,身材又cui, 人品又不好,为什么你会要跟她在一起?"
...and many more comments.
Sometimes we will wonder why this person so 'this' and 'that' and why people still like him/her. Well, i think i already have the answer above. It's because everyone is different.
Think about it. If everyone is the same and thinks alike, then it will be very terrible isn't it?
But we all know that it is not the case.
I am sure that there are girls out there who can accept guys who are egocentric; selfish; insensitive; lazy; immature...etc.
It all comes back to whether you can accept your partner for who he/she is.
And bear in mind that accepting means to live with it.
Can you live with his untidiness; his fury temper; his laziness; his insensitiveness; his stubborn character...etc?
Some people often say that: " I will try to tolerate and give in to him/her."
Well, how long can you tolerate? 10 years or 20 years?
How are you going to tolerate someone who is going to sleep beside you for the rest of your life?
Tolerance does not makes the relationship goes stronger. Instead i think it widens the gap between you and your partner, until it reaches a stage where the gap is too huge to bridge.
Too late.
Relationship is about bringing two people of two different lives together. Through the process of building a relationship, it involves accepting your partner's life into your life.
Two different lives growing into one.
The process is long.
Some may take 2years, 5 years,10 years or even more.
Some even never!
Then i think that's what i call destiny.
It's not meant to be.
Don't walk in front of me, don't walk behind me, i want you to walk beside me...
“要不是因为我们跟他是9年的朋友,不然的话,如果是外面不认识的人,早就Dua Buay Song打他了!”BAH!
Reminiscence - Part1B
1998 BPGHS Secondary 106:
~Titanic~
One fine day after school.
The usual people.
No need to mention who.
We are out to teach the KB(Kaobei) Gang of girls in our class a lesson.
Tilt their chairs 45 degrees.
Pour water onto the tilted chairs.
Throw rubbish and chalk powder onto their desks and water-filled chairs.
The "maiden ships"(paper boats) "set sail" on the water-filled chairs.
They never made it to the next morning.
They sunk.
Next morning during first lesson (Math).
The victims witnessed the "disaster".
Lao Poh/Zookeeper (Mrs Poh - our math teacher) reported it to the discipline master.
Instead vice-principal (Mrs Low) came to our class.
She demanded the culprits to stand up and admit.
None admitted. (WAIT LONG LONG LA)
Till today i think she really believed that no one from our class did it!
She told Lao Poh that maybe workers from outside came into our class and did it!
(Outside people where got so boliao and childish! Come on la, so obvious!)
In the end someone from our class bao toh to Dulan Soh (Mrs Doreen Soh - our form teacher).
Till today i still don't know who is the bao toh gia!
Culprits caught.
The usual people again.
~TimeOut~
One fine day.
I remembered clearly that me and YongXian were the masterminds.
Still got a few more people.
Should be the usual people again.
Buay song Joanne.
Smeared 'TimeOut" chocolate all over her desk.
Got caught.
Went to see Tarnat Soon/Tiger (Mr Tan - Discipline Master).
Quite lucky that we did not get any punishments.
We were instructed to clear up the mess and apologise to Joanne.
We had the last laugh.
~Fuck~
During secondary 1 english lessons.
Students were instructed to do a brief Book Review on a small piece of coloured paper.
Cut it into your desired shape and paste it on the board at the back of our classroom.
Somehow or rather
Someone wrote a "fuck" on PeiWon's Book Review.
I swear it wasn't me.
And neither was the usual people.
But someone saw who did it (i forget who is that person).
Miss Ng (English Teacher) was very furious.
Really damn angry.
"Do you all know what's the meaning of FUCK?" she screamed.
"Of course i know la!" (i thought and laughed in my heart)
And of course we know who was the culprit also.
But all of us kept quiet.
None admitted.
Miss Ng let the matter rest.
But its not over yet Haw Yng.
~Miss Lua, Miss Norizan and Frau Sheela~
Miss Lua and Miss Norizan came as relief teachers.
(I think if i am not wrong, Mrs Doreen Soh broke her arm and Mrs Deline Soh went on Maternity Leave)
  • Miss Lua
    Young and beautiful.
    So naturally all the guys were excited.
    Especially Haw Yng.
    He purposely dropped his pen/eraser (forgot what the fuck he dropped la) on the floor in front of him.
    Asked Miss Lua to help him pick it up.
    She really did.
    She bent down and picked it up.
    I guess i don't have to describe further on what Haw Yng saw.
    Fucker.
    Can't believe there is someone more fuck than me.
    And that Miss Lua also damn blur enough.
    After a few weeks, she left school.
    Heard she went to Chicago for further studies.
  • Miss Norizan
    Fat, not young and not beautiful.
    Actually i am not sure whether i spelled her name correctly.
    I only remembered her for 2 incidents:
    1. She sprained her ankle and came to class with a bandage on her ankle. (Sibei OBI!)
    2. She stripped off Gimson's councillor's badge and confiscated it. (Relief teacher only act so Hiong for what?)
  • Frau Sheela
    She was our german language teacher.
    Remembered her because she always dua kaobei Liu (ZhiPeng) until buay tahan.
    Because Liu always never do german homework.
    And we used to joke that she and Jurgen Klinsmann had an affair.
    That she went over to USA and 跟Klinsmann一起卖面包.
-weiyi-
I know what you did to PeiWon's Book Review, WeiJie's MAGIC cards and the $88 Ang Bao!!
"...她要去Chicago找Dennis Rodman, imagine 她跟Rodman dua..."
